Types of legal Translations:

There are two types of documents that require translation and attestation in the United Arab Emirates, they are:

1. Foreign-issued documents to be presented in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or other Emirates

Before the document can be translated, it must first be attested by the UAE Embassy in the country where it was issued, and then it must be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFAIC) once it arrives in the UAE. After these two stages are completed, the document can be translated and stamped by a sworn translator.

2. Documents issued in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or other Emirates and intended to be used in a different country

The document should be signed and stamped by the UAE institution or individual who issued it, or the relevant UAE certifying authority prior to translation. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFAIC) can then attest the paper. It is also required that the document be attested by the embassy of the country in which it will be used.
